What is TPMS Technology?
TPMS systems alert the driver when the pressure of their tyres changes to unsafe levels. This is achieved through a set of sensors which are installed in each tyre that send constant pressure readings wirelessly to a receiver unit installed in the vehicle. This way, the driver is kept aware of the tyre pressure at all times.
What are the benefits of TPMS equipped vehicles?
Tyres can lose up to half their air pressure before appearing to be under-inflated. All tyres lose pressure "naturally" at a rate of 0.2 bar (2.9psi) every 3 months. Under inflated tyres are not only a safety hazard, but they also increase running costs.
